The brilliant straw color is embraced with a dried orange rind freshness and a white peach and almond nose. The wine boasts refreshing bright citrus flavors with a long, mouthfilling, pithy grapefruit tannic finish. ~ Richard Sanford
Stony minerality notes, aged quality from lees aging and bottle age. Stonefruit; nectarine, barely ripe apricots. White floral notes on the pallet.
Planted at La Encantada, the Pinot Blanc block is the most gravely spot in that vineyard, would commonly be planted to Pinot Noir, shows Richard Sanford's faith in Pinot Blanc. Planted in an alluvial fan location that has dusty soils in the summer and dense soils in the winter.
Pressed under inert gas, settled for 2 nights at cellar temperature (62-63 degrees). After fermentation goes straight to used wood for 9 months. Only filtered, not fined with skim milk.
Food Pairing Notes
