Our wines

Alma Rosa captures the soul of “the Rosa” through wines that tell the story of the hills in the southern portion of the Sta. Rita Hills AVA.

Our wines reflect the soils, sun exposure, fog, cooling afternoon winds; and our long-standing connection with this place - carried by the voice of the vines.

Alma Rosa Winery is deeply rooted in the
winemaking history of  the Sta. Rita Hills appellation.

In the early 1970s, the unique geography, moderate climate and clay-loam soils attracted winery founder Richard Sanford to this area of Santa Barbara County, where he pioneered Pinot Noir and planted the region's first certified organic vineyard.

Today, Alma Rosa Winery remains committed to organic farming on its estate vineyard, which Richard planted in 1983.

262 cases produced

The 2016 Pinot Noir Rancho La Encantada is one of the more understated wines in this range. Floral overtones give the sweet red cherry, mint and white pepper notes striking lift. Gracious, pretty and impeccably balanced, the 2016 will drink beautifully right out of the gate. The 2016 is not an obvious wine, as so many Sta. Rita Hills Pinots can be, but it just gets better and better with time in the glass.

Organically Farmed

93 points-Antonio Galloni

The 2016 Chardonnay El Jabalí Vineyard is decidedly rich in style, which is a bit of a departure from the past. Lemon confit, almond, dried flowers and light tropical notes all develop in the glass. The 2016 finishes with real substance and energy, both of which will help the wine develop nicely in the cellar for years to come.
