Explore the Heart of the Sta. Rita Hills: A Day at Alma Rosa’s Estate
When you think of world-class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from California’s Central Coast, there’s no place quite like the Sta. Rita Hills AVA — where cool Pacific breezes, unique soils, and thoughtful farming come together to create wines with expressive depth and regional character. At the heart of this distinguished region lies Alma Rosa Winery & Vineyards. Our 628-acre estate invites guests to immerse themselves in both the terroir and the story behind our award-winning wines.
A Walk Through Nature and Wine
Visiting the Estate is an immersive a journey through the landscape where the wines are born. Each experience brings you closer to the vines, the land, and the meaning behind every bottle.
The El Jabali Estate Tasting Experience (about 90 minutes) places you under ancient oaks on the estate itself, where you’ll enjoy a curated selection of our estate-grown wines in a peaceful outdoor setting. This is where terroir is felt as much as tasted, and where conversations about soil, climate, and craft come naturally.
For visitors who want to go deeper, the Vineyard Excursion & Estate Tasting offers an intimate, guided tour of the property aboard a seven-seater golf cart. You’ll wind through vineyard rows, take in sweeping vistas of the Sta. Rita Hills, and learn about Alma Rosa’s sustainable farming practices before concluding the tour with a tasting back at the historic Ranch House.
Tasting With a View: The Caracol Hike
For adventurous wine lovers, the Caracol Hike elevates the experience — literally. This guided 1-mile walk takes you through five distinct clones of Pinot Noir planted in a spiral formation, a tribute to patterns found in nature and a testament to the estate’s thoughtful vineyard design. After exploring this unique vineyard block, your journey ends with a seated tasting of estate wines at the Ranch House, surrounded by panoramic views of the valley.
Beyond the Glass: Pairings and Provisions
No matter which estate experience you choose, enjoy the opportunity to elevate your tasting with optional local pairings. Think Regiis Ova caviar, artisan cheeses, cured meats, and other light provisions — all available for purchase to complement your wine flight and enhance the moment.
Why Estate Visits Matter
While our Downtown Solvang Tasting Room offers a chic, accessible way to sample our varied portfolio, the estate visit lets you feel where the wines come from, literally standing where the grapes were grown, hearing the stories behind the blocks, and understanding how land becomes flavor.
These experiences are designed for visitors who want more than just a pour — they want context, connection, and a memorable sensory experience that stays with them long after the last sip.
